🎯 Objectives

  • Use a balanced last step and strike through the center or lower half of the ball with confidence.
  • Look up early enough to choose a target before shooting.
  • Approach the ball under control instead of running past it.

🎒 Equipment Needed

1 ball per 2 players, cones for lines and target zones, 1-2 mini goals or a full goal, and spare balls beside the goal. Keep extra balls beside the area so restarts stay fast.

📐 Setup

Set a goal or two mini goals at one end of the area and place shooting cones 4-8 yards away depending on the age. Keep spare balls near the coach so the next player can go immediately. Keep the task simple so players can repeat the core technique with confidence.

📋 How to Run It

  1. 1Set up a 12x10 yard lane with a goal and short starting lines.
  2. 2Tell players the mission is to finish at space goals from close range.
  3. 3Players dribble or receive a short set, take one preparation touch if needed, and shoot from close range.
  4. 4After shooting, players collect their ball and rejoin the line from the side to keep the middle clear.
  5. 5Rotate which foot or target the players use so they stay balanced.

💡 Coaching Tips

  • Keep shooting lines short and use several starting spots if the group is large.
  • Coach accuracy before power, especially with younger players.
  • Use simple targets like left corner, right corner, or through the middle cones.
  • Celebrate proper striking technique even when the shot misses.

🔄 Variations

  • Easier: move the starting cone closer or allow a still ball finish.
  • Harder: call a corner target, add a rebound, or require a first touch before shooting.
  • Story version: every goal powers up the team rocket, castle, or rescue mission.
